The University's Surveys Reference Group has now developed a policy to manage and coordinate surveys of staff, students and alumni. This new policy does not apply to surveys conducted for academic research, or to those which require Human Research Ethics Committee approval.

The Surveys Reference Group requires that all proposed surveys within its scope be submitted for approval and scheduling. The policy, and Forms A and B for approval and scheduling are available from the Survey Reference Group webpage http://www.fpg.unimelb.edu.au/ipeq/docs/WV_UMSRG_Terms_of_Reference_v8_Jun08.pdf

Examples of surveys included under the new policy are those for:

  • Internal quality assurance
  • Surveys commissioned or sponsored by external agencies
  • Internally sponsored market research (of students, staff, alumni or other stakeholders)
  • Internal management surveys (of students, staff, alumni or other stakeholders)
  • Other surveys where the UoM brand and reputational issues are at stake
  • Surveys sponsored or commissioned by commercial organisations involving University stakeholders

If you are a new user, you will need to email IT Services desk at fbe-ithelp@unimelb.edu.au to activate your account in order to create/manage surveys.
